Job Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a skilled Sr. Project Manager to oversee HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems installations on large commercial projects within the healthcare and construction sectors. This role requires a proactive and hands-on leader with extensive experience working as a mechanical subcontractor on complex, high-value projects. The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for managing timelines, budgets, and personnel, while ensuring adherence to safety and code requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Installation Management: Lead and manage HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems installations, ensuring all work meets project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
- Healthcare Facility Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards, especially in occupied healthcare environments.
- Job Costing and Budgeting: Set up and manage job costing codes, and review estimates to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Oversee vendor and subcontractor negotiations and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in submittals based on contract specifications.
- Performance Tracking and Reporting: Generate and review monthly cost and performance reports, proactively identifying any deviations to keep projects on track.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
- Team Development: Lead and develop field personnel, including foremen and superintendents, to cultivate a skilled, motivated workforce.
- Safety and Compliance: Conduct regular safety meetings, incident investigations, and other activities to promote a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent experience is also acceptable for candidates who have progressed through trade roles.
- Experience: 10+ years of project management experience with a mechanical subcontractor, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for large commercial projects.
- Project Value Management: Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $5M+ in the commercial sector.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel within North Carolina for project needs, approximately 30-65% of the month, based on project location.
